Mostly, perfectionism is driven by a fear of failure. The concept of “Done is better than good” implies that one should not neglect the pursuit of excellence.
Just to share a bit about myself, over time I have always taken great pride in my perfectionism, without realizing that striving for perfection is actually a major distraction. Many people confuse perfectionism with having high standards, being detail-oriented, and pursuing excellence. This mindset brings its own set of issues, including procrastination, pressure, self-hatred, and an overwhelming amount of stress.
Rather, it emphasizes the significance of completing tasks. The completion of a task takes priority over its quality. The achievement of completion outweighs the pursuit of perfection. Therefore, it is essential to relinquish the pursuit of perfection and instead focus on achieving completion. Be the person who shows up and gets things done.
