Counting The Cost

Never let impulse and excitement propel you into any venture that you have not understood. The Bible calls this zeal without knowledge (Romans 10:2). Success belongs to those that know how to count the cost.” ~ Apostle Grace Lubega

To prepare for success, you must first count the cost of what it is you wish to succeed at, as everything of value has a difficulty factor attached to it. I have already written a great article expounding how value is linked to difficulty, so in this blog post, I am not going to dwell more on the same, but you can study it here. The more incredible the value, the greater the difficulty. Failure to which, you will be mocked by the very things that you seek to accomplish.

Jesus spoke of this crucial principle in Luke 14:28–29, saying, “For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him.”

You want to get into a marriage, build a ministry, pursue a great career, or build a multinational business. Have you counted the cost? Do you understand the business before you launch into it?

The cost here is not monetary. It is not the budget you draw up for your vision.

Part of counting the cost is understanding the sufficiency–that it is of God. Another part is proper preparation for it.
